Abstract
Measurements are reported of the nuclear electric quadrupole interaction parameters (coupling constant and asymmetry parameter) of the 11B nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of the transition metal monoborides, MB (M=Ti, V, Cr, Co, Ni, Mo, and W). A detailed account is given of the method of extracting these parameters from the experimental spectra with the aid of computer‐synthesized spectra. The measured 11B quadrupole couplings and asymmetry parameters are quite small and are inconsistent with the assumption that the boron atoms in these borides are linked by strong covalent sp hybrid bonds.
