Abstract
Pure, solid bis(cumene) and bis(m-di-isopropylbenzene)chromium were obtained by condensing chromium vapour with the arenes at –196°. Stable complexes Cr(arene)(PF3)3 have been made from chromium vapour, PF3, and the vapour of benzene, hexafluorobenzene, cumene, or mesitylene; the yield of Cr(C6F6)(PF3)3 was poor. Condensation of iron vapour, PF3, and C6H6 formed Fe(C6H6)(PF3)2. Manganese vapour condensed with a mixture of NO, BF3, and PF3 gave Mn(NO)3PF3, but nitric oxide has proved to be a dangerous reagent in metal atom reactions.Keywords
