Abstract
Flavonoids of Corydalis were compared with those of the closely related genus Dicentra in order to determine whether these compounds could provide diagnostic criteria for distinguishing between the two genera. No successful attributes were found in this suite of characters. This evidence, and data from other sources, points to an extremely close natural relationship between Corydalis and Dicentra and suggests that recognition of the two as separate genera represents an artificial situation.
