Abstract
Chromatic adaptation of the Paradise fish, Macropodus opercularis L., to illuminated backgrounds ranging from “white” to “black” shows that the pigment is most readily dispersed in the deepest‐lying melanophores and least readily in the uppermost layers.Keywords
