Drug Education—A Turn on or a Turn Off?

Abstract
Evidence is frequently cited that purports to show that drug education has been counterproductive. A review is made of all available (i.e. fifteen) studies reporting “negative” effects of such programs. Results, while not numerous, show both negative attitudinal and behavioral effects, usually in combination with other positive program effects. Discussion of the findings include both program and research implications.
