Abstract
A mother with herpes gestationis and her child without cutaneous lesions had analogous immunohistological findings. In the skin they had deposits of Ig[immunoglobulin]G and C3 [complement component 3] at the basement membrane zone. Circulating IgG antibody to the basement membrane was demonstrated in both. The mother also had a high titer of anti-HL-A antibody against HL-A-B8 antigen present in the child. The possible role of this HL-A antibody in the pathogenesis of herpes gestationis is discussed. This publication has 12 references indexed in Scilit:
