Abstract
In the SbF5–AsF3 system the Sb2F11 ion has been shown to exist. It is suggested that the AsF2 + ion is also formed. Dissolution, rather than reaction, of niobium pentafluoride and of antimony trifluoride in antimony pentafluoride is established. A 19F n.m.r. study on the polymeric nature of antimony pentafluoride in an inert solvent (perfluorocyclobutane) has been carried out.
