Abstract
Questionnaires were sent to 86 persons with high-frequency hearing losses for whom hearing aids utilizing standard, vented or open earmolds had been recommended. The purpose was to learn whether one earmold gives more satisfactory performance than another in everyday listening situations. Although interpretation of results is complicated by the limited number of usable questionnaires returned, a tendency for persons using an open earmold to obtain more beneficial results from amplification in everyday communication than those using standard or vented molds is evident. This conclusion is based on the report that a larger percentage use the aid on a full-time basis. Keywords
