Abstract
The levels of B [bone marrow derived] lymphocytes bearing surface immunoglobulins [Ig] in human peripheral blood were measured by immunofluorescence after pre-treatment of the cells with a low pH shock or washing at 37.degree. C. The percentages of S[surface]Ig-bearing cells in an individual varied throughout the day and showed a circadian rhythm with peak at 2400 h and a depression at 1200 h. The levels of the B lymphocytes in the peripheral blood varied annually, being lower in the winter than in the summer.
