Permeation of Hexane Through Butyl Nomex

Abstract
The permeation rate of hexane through the polymeric material butyl nomex has been determined at 22.5°C and 45°C using an ASTM permeation cell and gas chromtograph as the analytical method. Breakthrough times were 21 minutes at 22.5°C and 10 minutes at 45°C. Steady state flux was 0.095 µg/(cm2)(sec) at 22.5°C and 0.37 µ/(cm2)(sec) at 45°C.
