Abstract
Pentafluoroformanilide has been synthesised from ethyl formate and the monosodium salt of pentafluoroaniline; its spectroscopic properties are discussed, and its decarbonylation to pentafluoroaniline with hot calcium oxide and dehydration to pentafluorophenyl isocyanide with phosphorus pentaoxide at 250 °C are described. Keywords
