Abstract
Sixty-two of 103 cases of ruptured cerebral berry aneurysm had intracerebral hematomata. Anterior communicating and anterior cerebral aneurysms produced the majority of intracerebral hematomata and middle cerebral aneurysms most frequently produced hematomata in the external capsule. Aneurysms of the internal carotid at the origin of the posterior communicating artery usually ruptured into the temporal lobes and aneurysms at the bifurcation of the internal carotid artery usually were buried in the frontal lobe and ruptured there. Hematomata resulted primarily from external capsular hemorrhages in hypertensive cases and from frontal hemorrhages in cases of aneurysms. The largest hematomata resjlting from a ruptured aneurysm were in the external capsule while the smallest were in the cavum pellucidum.
