Abstract
A self‐consistent treatment is given for ion size effects, specific ionic adsorption, and discrete surface charge effects in the electrical double layer at a planar surface. Ionic interactions are considered in the Mean Spherical Approximation and specific adsorption is modelled by the sticky potential of Baxter. Analytic results include the surface charge–surface potential relationship, the adsorption isotherm, and a comparison with the surface dissociation model of Ninham and Parsegian. Keywords
