Abstract
EDITOR,—The letter by Robert Fox and Tim Draycott has a misleading title1: the fits under discussion are eclamptic, not pre-eclamptic (as the definition of eclampsia is the occurrence of fits superimposed on pre-eclampsia). The letter is also misleading in giving advice to use diazepam rather than magnesium sulphate for the initial control of eclamptic convulsions. This advice could lead to maternal morbidity.
