Abstract
The ionisation results previously obtained from scaled Coulomb-Born-exchange results are modified to include the inner-shell excitation-autoionisation contribution, which is obtained using the same type of procedures as used for direct ionisation. The results take a simple form and give mostly very good agreement with the recent measurements of Crandall et al (1979). A simple explanation for the observed increase in the relative importance of the excitation-autoionisation contribution with z for Z<or=8 is given, but it is predicted that this effect moderates for higher Z.Keywords
