Abstract
“A fascinating article with frightening implications,” remarked a primary care physician in reviewing this article. Indeed, the discovery of how antibiotic resistance is passed between bacteria has raised the specter of increasingly difficult to treat infections. Dr Welch explains how current prescribing practices contribute to the problem of antibiotic resistance and offers practical suggestions for reducing the risk. Keywords
