Abstract
The spread of volcanic dust from the explosion of Krakatoa is described. An explanation of the initial rapid lateral spread poleward in the Northern Hemisphere, the much slower spread in the second month, and the accelerated spread in the third and fourth months is attempted in terms of the normal monthly circulations at 19 km.Keywords
