Abstract
Insects belonging to the order Hemiptera are sometimes classified according to their food habits into five groups, viz.: the phytosuccivorous (plant-sucking), the predatory (predacious), the algophagous (algae-feeders), the mycetophagous (fungus-feeders) and the haematophagous (blood-sucking). The writer has long been interested in knowing to what extent such a classification is justified on the basis of structural differentiation; hence, the present study. Keywords
