Abstract
The aim of this report is to estimate the size of the population of patients with eating disorders who have a chronic course and require long-term management strategies. There then follows a description of the physical, psychological and social sequelae of chronic eating disorders. Finally, practical aspects of treatment are discussed. Keywords
