Abstract
A set of natural gauge conditions for an orthonormal frame on a three-dimensional Riemannian manifold is discussed. The conditions determine a teleparallel geometry. They may be regarded as a nonlinear elliptic system for a rotation. Existence and uniqueness of solutions are discussed using the linearized system. Applications to Einstein gravity are noted. Keywords
