Abstract
Reconfigurable beam-forming networks may be implemented successfully with optical technologies. To exploit the advantages fully the properties of optics have to be considered in the design of the beam-forming network. The benefit may be significant when the proper technique and technology is selected. An example is given for a multi-beam application of a phased-array antenna for an ISDN network in the sky. Keywords
