Abstract
Macromolecular materials are everywhere – in all kinds of plastics, in food, in the polymer glasses used in compact discs and in the high-tech organic composites that are replacing steel in cars. Many crucial biological materials such as DNA and proteins are also macromolecules. Clearly it is important to understand the physical and chemical mechanisms responsible for the many desirable properties of these materials. Keywords
