Abstract
Electron micrographs showing various stages of the development of vaccinia virus in tissue sections are presented. Pictures supporting the theory of the step-wise cycle of cellinfection are shown. The perinuclear position of early inclusions is emphasized and the structure of elementary bodies is shown. The latter have dense walls and less dense interiors.Keywords
