Abstract
Considerable quantities of thiamin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, nicotinic acid, pyridoxine, folic acid and biotin were shown to be synthesized in the intes-tinal tract of horses fed B-vitamin-low rations. Notwithstanding synthesis of thiamin in the intestinal tract, typical thiamin deficiency symptoms developed resulting in death of one animal after 19 weeks on the ration. Thiamin feeding to the paired mate re-sulted in complete recovery. No other B-vitamin symptoms were apparent at any time. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
