Abstract
The electron-impact detachment from the and negative ions is calculated in lowest-order distorted-wave theory. The cross sections are found to be quite sensitive to the choice of polarization potential. Reasonable agreement between the distorted-wave theory and recent ion storage ring experiments for both and is obtained. © 1996 The American Physical Society.
