Abstract
Hyperbilirubinemia resulting from sodium dehydrocholate administration in hepatic or posthepatic jaundice is caused by the increase in directly reacting plasma bilirubin and in hemolytic jaundice by the increase in indirectly reacting bilirubin. Sodium dehydrocholate administration to patients with hepatic or posthepatic jaundice brings about increased renal elimination of bilirubin due to increase in its plasma filtrable fraction.
