Abstract
An analysis of the wiring diagram of Ussing''s short circuit method for the study of active charge transport in biological membranes shows that instead of 4 electrodes which are necessary in the method proposed by Ussing, only 2 are needed. The modified method makes measurements in membranes within biological objects possible, where, in the original method, the installation of 4 electrodes in a definite geometrical position would not be possible for spatial reasons.
