Abstract
Wild oats (Avena spp.) were probably introduced into Western Australia from Tasmania in the early 1830s. A. fatua and A. barbata are found now throughout the temperature areas of the State but A. sterilis occurs only in a few isolated locations. A. fatua predominates in the drier and warmer N and NE regions and A. barbata in the cooler and wetter SW. A. fatua is found more commonly in cereal crops and A. barbata on road verges and undisturbed land. A. fatua occurs more commonly on fine-textured loams and A. barbata on coarse sands. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
