Abstract
We describe and illustrate the first Anisian (Middle Triassic) foraminifera reported from Australia. The well-preserved, non-Tethyan assemblage contains 34 species, of which ten are new. These are: Citharinella inornata n. sp., C. variabilis, n. sp., Frondicularia ingrami n. sp., F. lambertensis n. sp., F. westraliensis n. sp., Lingulina australis n. sp., L. lawleyensis n. sp., Palmula striata n. sp., Pseudonodosaria simplex n. sp., and P. wisemanae n. sp. The Anisian age of the material is based on palynological evidence. Poorly preserved, small foraminifera from an older (Early? Triassic) horizon are also illustrated. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
