Abstract
The effect of the power plant time response on the closed loop roots of an optimum load frequency control system which minimizes the integral square error of control action, economic error, area control error, and the integral of area control error was obtained using root square locus techniques. A maximum value of 30 seconds for the first order plant time constant was estimated by considering rate limiting and bandwidth reduction effects. Keywords
