Abstract
SUMMARY: Acritarchs and trilobites of late Tremadoc age have been found in beds hitherto mapped as the Skiddaw Group, close to the outcrop of the Latterbarrow Sandstone in the River Calder, western Lake District. These Tremadoc beds are older than any graptolitic Skiddaw Slates. The new discovery means that a simple conformable relationship between the Latterbarrow Sandstone and the underlying Skiddaw Group is unlikely. This publication has 14 references indexed in Scilit:
