Abstract
Two studies investigated subjects' knowledge about and preference for Sheldon's three primary physiques. In one study 30 subjects assigned 60 personality traits to outline drawings of mesomorphic, ectomorphic, and endomorphic physiques. These physiques are strongly stereotyped and Sheldon's theory is in substantial agreement with the stereotype. In the second study 20 subjects indicated their preferences for the three outline drawings. The mesomorphic physique was most preferred, while the endomorphic physique was least preferred. This order of preference is also the order of stereotypy found in the first study. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
