Abstract
It is demonstrated that when measurements are made in a steadily flowing gas in which a spray is suspended, the observed heterogeneous reaction rate order with respect to the material composing the spray is usually determined by the particle size distribution and is largely independent of the single-particle reaction order. An explicit expression for the dependence of the apparent order upon the size distribution is derived. Keywords
