Abstract
Pilot plants were designed in order to investigate the treatability of industrial wastewaters by an activated sludge plant. Four independent units, with a capacity of 80‐litres, simulated full‐scale treatment in terms of influent flow rates, influent composition, food to micro‐organisms ratio, and sludge retention time. The pilot plants were validated by operating them simultaneously under constant conditions. The performance and variability of the plants are discussed.
