COVARIANT QUANTIZATION AND ANOMALIES OF THE G-S HETEROTIC σ-MODEL

Abstract
In the framework of the Batalin-Vilkowiski approach we give the explicit solution of the master equation to all orders in the Siegel ghosts and ghosts of ghosts for the Green-Schwarz heterotic σ-model in ten dimensions. In this way we can perform a complete cohomological analysis of the anomalies of the model. We confirm that the κ-anomalies can be absorbed by quantum corrections of the target superfield constraints and the conformal anomalies are absent provided that the target superfields are on shell.
