Abstract
The heavy-quark expansion in QCD has become a widely used tool in heavy-quark physics. The theoretical aspects of the expansion ( being the mass of the heavy quark) and some techniques that appear in practical calculations are reviewed. Some applications to processes involving heavy quark decays are discussed. Keywords
