Abstract
Measurement of 226Ra and Ca in 588 samples of human vertebrae from 13 countries were combined with those of other investigators to describe the average global 226Ra concentration in human bone. Median population-weighted concentration was 23 fCi 226Ra/g Ca. The median concentration calculated delivered an .alpha. dose of 0.4 mrad/yr to cells lining bone surfaces thought to be critical in the production of osteosarcoma. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
