Abstract
The present work is concerned with the formulation of the kinetic equation for an ionized gas in a weak static electric field and magnetic induction, along the line of the theory of Bogoliubov for a neutral gas. It is an extension of the recent work of Wu and Rosenberg on the kinetic equation describing the irreversible processes in a spatially inhomogeneous ionized gas. The equation obtained describes the approach of a plasma in a weak static electric field E and magnetic induction B towards spatial homogeneity, and determines the critical field E, for a given (small) inhomogeneity, beyond which the plasma will further digress from spatial homogeneity. For the magnetic induction B, there is no critical value. Keywords
