F18 RADIOISOTOPE SCANNING OF METASTATIC BONE LESIONS IN CHILDREN WITH NEUROBLASTOMA

Abstract
A comparative study of F18 bone scanning and skeletal roentgenography in 16 neuroblastoma patients revealed the utility of this procedure when the scan data were computer processed and the areas of suspected metastatic foci involved the skull and thoracic cage bones. In some instances, metastases were detected by F18 scanning months prior to their roentgenologic appearance. For optimum disease status evaluation, skeletal roentgenography, F18 bone scanning and bone marrow aspiration are required.
