Abstract
For pt.I, see ibid., vol.15, p.739 (1985). Core electron energy loss spectroscopy is applied to the study of 5p, 4p and 4s excitations in the lanthanide elements from La to Lu. Quasiatomic behaviour dominates over excitation to empty band states with clear evidence of intense (5p; 5d) 1P resonances; similar effects occur for 4p excitations, but the nature of the final states is less clear. Keywords
