Abstract
Nitrification of the MBR process for sewage treatment was investigated with a pilot scale plant in this study. Complete nitrifcation occurred where the sludge retention time (SRT) was over 5 days. The maximum nitrification rate (Rmax) of the biomass was determined with batch tests and was found to be around 1.71 – 2.0 mgNO3--N/gVSS-h. Nitrification was affected more by the influent C/N ratio than SRT.Keywords
