Abstract
This paper was to be included in the monograph “Psychosexual Dysfunctions,” itself a section of the Psychiatric Treatment Manual in the process of preparation by a task force of the American Psychiatric Association (T. Byram Karasu, Chairman). However, in June 1986, the APA Board of Trustees voted to delete the existing diagnostic category of Ego-Dystonic Homosexuality from their revision of DSM-III (DSM-IIIR), although related clinical problems of gender orientation may be included in Sexual Dysfunctions NOS (Not Otherwise Specified). The authors of the chapter on Ego-Dystonic Homosexuality believe that the publication of the chapter as an article in the Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy will help clarifi certain viewpoints and facilitate their ongoing discussion and debate. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
