Abstract
The scaling exponents of two-point correlation functions in nonisotropic convective turbulence are evaluated on the basis of the Boussinesq equations. The scaling indices differ significantly from Kolmogorov’s scaling for isotropic turbulence. The physical reason for this difference is the length dependent buoyancy forcing in this case, in contrast to forcing on the largest scale only in Kolmogorov’s picture. The calculation appears to be in agreement with preliminary experimental findings in convective turbulence with helium as the working fluid. Keywords
