MOLECULAR STRIAE FROM AN INDANTHRENE DYE

Abstract
High resolution electron micrographs show that suitably oriented, very thin crystals of the dye indanthrene scarlet R, C38H22N2O6, are covered with patterns of striae analogous to those recently described by Menter (Proc. Roy. Soc. London, A 236: 119, 1956.) for the phthalocy-anins. Measurements of these striae are recorded, and their nature briefly discussed.
