Abstract
During attempts to obtain single ascospore cultures of H. mediosetigera growing on balsa wood submerged in the effluent canal of an electricity generating plant at Chalk Point Maryland (USA), all the ascospores which germinated were observed to produce colonies of T. achrasporum. T. achrasporum was therefore morphologically and ecologically characterized as the imperfect state of H. mediosetigera.
