Abstract
KNOWLEDGE of first-aid measures for casualties resulting from atomic bombing is based largely on the results of the two bombs dropped at Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The limitations of this experience, which was not gained at first hand, tend to undermine the authority of any recommendations based upon it. What information is available, however, has been well systematized in recent publications.1 2 3 4 5 Before a discussion of first-aid measures it is desirable to present some figures estimating the number and types of casualties to be expected.
