Abstract
The strength of the equatorial countercurrent of the North Pacific and associated variations in sea surface temperatures at its eastern extremity off Central America are related to the zonal wind flow in the remote subtropical atmosphere with lags of as much as 8 months between wind and temperature.Keywords
