Abstract
The supervision of interns is a complex and multifaceted process. Several factor have been identified as hindrances to providing effective supervision. In an attempt to confront these factors, a model for intern supervision, the Supervision Throughput Model, was developed to improve the internship program at the University of Florida. The model is described in terms of two key facets of supervision: (1) effective interpersonal communication skills and (2) the procedures for conducting conferences. Also described are the means used to implement the model and the problems that persist. Keywords
