Abstract
Palaeocyclus, a Silurian genus of rugose corals long thought to be confined on Gotland to the Lower Visby Marl, was found near the top of the Upper Visby Marl. This coral genus plays a critical role in Mid-Silurian correlations, and it is important for international correlations to establish its exact range in the classic stratigraphy of Gotland, from where the type species was first described.
