Abstract
Uptake and metabolism of the dipeptide L-carnosine (beta-alanyl-L-histidine) and of the free amino acid beta-alanine were studied in scraped mucosal epithelium of jejunum, kidney cortex slices, and intact hemidiaphragm muscle of the rat. These preparations expose plasma membranes with various orientations to amino nitrogen nutrition. Keywords
